Well, it's been over a month since the last update
my apologizes! I will try not to wait so long next
time! We will be posting Halloween pics of Nick
very soon........!
So - to catch you all up on what Nick has been up
to.......hmmm............where to start?
School! Nick is really liking 3rd grade. He is
going all day every day! (except for 1 and a half
hours twice a week when he is at out-patient
therapy) His teacher is Ms Zegunis and she is
really nice. He has some friends in his class
from last year and is making new ones. And Nick
went on his first sleep over birthday party a
couple weeks ago at his friend Quinton's house and
had a blast! He really seems to be finally coming
out of his shell and particapating and joining in
more again!
Nick continues to have a great attitude and tries
to do his very best, but he is struggling this year
at school. He had a neuro/phys evaul done a
couple weeks ago and the findings warrant some extra
help. It was recomended that he have a para-pro to
help him out in the class room full time (his own
specially trained "assistant") and about an hour out
of class with some resource (special education) help.
And his principal is already on it!! He has trouble
following multi step directions, thought processing,
auditory skills - language/expressing, and memory.
All in all though, minor compared to the cancer that
he beat!! I am sure with all the help he is receiving
and will be receiving he will do just fine (of course
all that prayer power is a big help
~ thank you all for that! ~
The trip to Michigans Adverture in July was great fun!
Nick rode his very first big loop de loop roller
coaster! And he sat right in the very front! He wasnt
sure at first if he liked it, but after awhile, he asked
to ride it again, and again, and again!!! We brought
his wheel chair along so he wouldnt get too tired
walking all over the park and I am glad we did! He was
really tired by the end of the day but very happy!!
Nick also received his love quilt from Love Quilts To
Make A Child Smile and it is fantastic! It has a sports
theme and is full of cross stitched squares of hockey,
baseball, basketball, rodeo, golf, etc, from all over the
world. Ladies from all over signed up and stitched with
much love, prayers and good thoughts the squares to be
made into Nicks quilt. And now they cover Nick each
nite with all that love and prayer power - it's so very
touching!! Big hugs, love and thanks to all of those
quilting ladies out there! You are awesome!
A big step was made this past Tuesday too ----- in
outpatient surgery---Nick's port (a device under his
skin up by his shoulder used to plug the lines in to
administer chemo ) was removed! Yeah!! Definately
don't need that anymore!!! He was sore for a couple
days, but it all went really well. And NOW - Nick will
only be at the clinic to be checked out every 3 months!!
Yahoo!!!
Nick, his father Bob, and I send our hugs and thanks
for your contined support in prayer -- you all are
truely a blessing!
God Bless ! ~Pam
