Hello everyone! The above is a pic of Nick and
our newly adopted doggie "Trigger" in their
Halloween costumes. Whatcha think? Would you
give 'em candy? =]

Trigger was adopted from the Humane Society
earlier this month and is a 3 yr old Jack Russell
Terrier. He is the BEST little doggie and he
and Nick of course are best buddies!

Unfortunately, Trigger thought Spike the
cockatiel was a moving treat, and tried to eat
her last Saturday. We took Spike to Roy at
Casa La Parrot and he took excellent care of her!
Spike stayed there in a nice warm incubator with
some baby cockatiels while she recovered. Roy
said she had probably ruptured something in her
sinus cavity (from the pressure of being in
Trigger's mouth) and as long as she stayed warm
and wasnt overcome by the shock, she'd be okay.
While the shop was closed on Sunday, Nick was able
to meet Roy there to check on Spike. And while
Roy fed all the birds, Nick got to hold, and play
with Maui, Roy's Hyacinth Macaw. The biggest,
gentlest, and rarest of Macaws. Here is a pic of
them together.

Well on Monday, Nick was able to take Spike home,
thanks to Roy's tender care ! I am happy to say
Spike is back to normal now, and kept FAR away
from Trigger.

Thank you so much Roy, Dawn and the Casa La
Parrot staff for taking such good care of Spike !

Okay, now for Nick.....LOL

He is doing wonderfully! His last scans were in
September and again showed him to be in remission!
Yeah! AND, since mid June, when he started the
growth hormone, he has grown a WHOLE INCH!!! Yeah!

He is "testing" out an FM System at school to see
if it will help him with hearing, and so far, so good!!
And the staff there will continue helping him out to
make sure those consonants he isnt hearing well anymore,
will continue to be heard in HIS speech. A HUGE thank
you goes out to ALL at Vanguard, you all are the best!!

Nick gets his report card on Halloween! We are looking
forward to seeing a good report as he always strives
to do his best at school. All his teachers and
therapists at school are terrific in encouraging him
and giving him the help he needs.

And thank you to all of you, Nick's friends, family,
and supporters. Thank you for all the letters, cards,
thoughts, guestbook signings, encouragement, and
especially the prayers you send up for Nick....
they are still working =]

Great Big Hugs,
And
Happy Halloween!!
